What Will PC Part Prices Look Like in 2027?
After a difficult period for PC hardware prices, many gamers are wondering whether 2027 will finally bring some relief. Unfortunately, the outlook remains uncertain, with several factors pointing toward continued pressure on component prices.
RAM is likely to remain one of the biggest concerns. The rapid expansion of AI data centers is increasing demand for memory, while manufacturers are shifting production toward high-performance server and AI products. This is putting pressure on the supply available for consumer PCs, and prices could remain elevated well into 2027.
SSDs could face similar pressure. AI data centers require enormous amounts of storage, increasing demand for NAND flash. However, unlike RAM, SSD pricing could benefit if manufacturers expand production and supply eventually catches up with demand. This could create periods of lower prices during 2027, although a major return to the extremely cheap SSD prices seen in previous years is far from guaranteed.
Graphics cards are another major question mark. GPU prices will depend on production costs, demand from both gamers and AI companies, and the pricing strategy of manufacturers. New GPU generations could also affect the market by pushing older models downward in price.
CPUs, motherboards, power supplies and other components may experience less dramatic changes, but rising manufacturing, transportation and material costs could still influence retail prices.
For PC builders, 2027 could therefore be a mixed year. Some components may become cheaper as supply improves, while others could remain expensive because of continuing demand from AI infrastructure.
The biggest factor will be whether manufacturers can increase production fast enough to keep up with demand. If AI investment continues accelerating, the traditional PC market could remain under pressure.
For now, 2027 does not look like a guaranteed return to cheap PC hardware. Instead, buyers may need to carefully choose when and what to upgrade, as prices could vary significantly between different components.
